Review - Cape Storm
Earlier this year I made a dent in the Weather Warden books by Rachel Caine... and then I needed a break. I love these books overall, but blasting through a series begins to hurt my soul a few books in. I'm happy with this addition to Rachel Caine's phenomenal series though.
In Cape Storm Joanne's oldest enemy is wreaking havoc on the world - a violent hurricane is ravaging the southern coasts leaving the Weather Wardens only one option... to hijack a luxury cruise ship and battle it from the source... of course. (Makes perfect sense to me!) While at war Joanne is dealing with yet another old friend; a new demon mark. She makes an agreement with Lewis to kill her if the demon takes over but will he be able to do it in time?
Caine has just created wow with this series. Wow. Seriously, I'm in awe. She continuously takes it in turns I never expected, nor could have predicted. I love how random these books are. I love how she comes full circle, simultaneously making this a human apocalypse book and a vehicle where she can make fun of Titanic. Brilliant.
I do believe, if I am not mistaken, that I only have one more book left in this series. One. More. Book. *sigh*... and then the Outcast Season series, of course... but wow. This is one series you all should be reading, imperfections and all. There's just too much awesome here for one book binding to contain.
4 out of 5 stars... for a few slightly less awesome spots, but still a damn good read.
